In one shape or form Architecture has always been in my life. The ever present voice that challenges me to search for the most creative solutions, challenge everything, and never accept the ordinary. Today, several decades into my career, I realize that for me, Architecture is a quest to achieve the seamless union of technology, function and art. The constant desire to create timeless expressions in Architecture.
As a sixth generation Architect I continue in a profession that has captivated the attention of my familiar predecessors for hundreds of years. Even though, over the past 25 years I have established my own identity in this profession, I still remember the valuable lessons of my Father and Grandfather who came before me. From my Grandfather, Tihamer, I learned that Architecture is the supreme social Artform. An inspirational vehicle to lift the aesthetic built environment and impact the lives of individuals in a positive way. When my Grandfather left his war torn country of Hungary, he left with the desire to help re-build a world that was in much need of hope. From my Father, Gregory, I learned professional perseverance. He would often say “Architecture is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.” Simply translated, Architecture is about imagination and creativity but Architecture is also about having the disposition and technical expertise to have your Designs beautifully constructed.
As I reflect upon my career in Architecture to this point, I understand the overwhelming impact that studying alongside some of the World’s most influential Architects in New York City has had on me. As a graduate of New York Institute of Technology, I came into contact with Architectural greats such as Peter Pran, Livio Dimitriu, Robert Stern, John Hejduk, Bentel and Bentel and so many more. From that almost daily experience I came to appreciate the type of ‘out of the box’, ‘let us look at this project another more dynamic way’ credo that made them outstanding Architects. At Miklos Architecture, we consistently search for Architectural design solutions that are unique and iconic. Hallmark designs that exceed our Client’s expectations. This has always been our Mission. Our work has been published in print magazines such as Open House, Florida Design, Florida Architecture and Architectural Digest.
